Most often, our start point on any assignment is the security survey and security risk assessment. These actions provide us, and our clients, with a clear understanding of security and the broader geopolitical picture at the subject location. Simply put, you need to know what the security threats and risks are to your operation (including the often complex political and culural environment in which you may be operating) and you need to know the actions you can take to mitigate against those threats and risks.
Security Survey & Risk Assessment Process
Broadly speaking, our security survey and risk assessment actvity is a 3-Step process.
Step One – Survey. We extensively ‘scout’ the area in which you are operating and conduct a detailed Security Survey of every aspect of getting to, working in, living in, moving about and departing from the project. We survey across hundreds of different criteria that cover almost every aspect of physical security and personal security relevant to your operation. Importantly, we also survey and assess systems your client or suppliers may have in order to give you piece of mind that when relying on a third party in your area of operations you are doing so securely.
Step Two – Assess. From the results of the Security Survey we conduct a Security Risk Assessment that is depicted in an easy-to-read tabular form detailing the risks, likelihood, consequence and severity ratings. The Security Risk Assessment is always accompanied by action recommendations you can implement to mitigate or defeat the stated risk.
Step Three – Action. The survey and risk assessment may then require us to develop a comprehensive plan for the physical protection of personnel, assets or both. Security policies and procedures, including country specific Traveller Security Plans, may also be written, ensuring they link seamlessly with your extant company policies and procedures as well as the requirements of your insurers. Further actions may also include training your staff, testing your processess, Emergency Response Plans and Crisis Management Team, and protecting key individuals.
